Black Swan Appear in Qinwangchuan National Wetland Park

“Look, that’s a black swan!” On November 27, the staffers monitoring migratory birds in Qinwangchuan National Wetland Park in Lanzhou New Area saw a black swan frolicking in the lake. “This is the first time in recent years that a black swan has been seen in this wetland park. It can be one lost during its southward migratory journey.

”Now is the season when large numbers of migratory birds are flying to the south for winter. To provide protection for them, Oasis Co., Ltd. under Lanzhou New Area Municipal Investment Group adopts multiple measures to ensure their safety. The company has bought telescopes and professional cameras and appointed persons responsible for monitoring the migratory birds in their perching, preying, and reproductive states; it has had persons specifically patrolling and inspecting and carrying out comprehensive sanitary work to prevent and eliminate artificial interference, damaging factors, and hazards to the eco-environment; it has stepped up fire prevention to avoid any fire, ensure the living environment for migratory birds, and protect them from any negative impact on their migratory journey.

Qinwangchuan National Wetland Park is where migratory birds must pass. Located in the Qinwangchuan Basin, it has a wetland landscape consisting mainly of birds and wetland plants. Every year, a large number of migratory birds stop here, where they forage, soar, hover, and jump, presenting an auspicious scene. Presently, the following birds have been recorded in the wetland: herons, whooper swans, egrets, ruddy shelducks, black-headed gulls, coots, grayleg geese, and so forth in 14 orders, 25 families, and 58 species. This rich diversity of bird resources forms a complete and harmonious ecosystem.
